Feeding Tube and Setbacks

Hello dear friends,

We want to start off by saying you all are AMAZING! We are blessed beyond measure for all of the support, love and especially prayers. People say it takes a village and it really truly does!

We wish we had a better update, but we took a few steps backward the last few days, which is why many of you haven't heard from us much. Our sweet Jack had an EEG done at the doctors request and unfortunately it confirmed that he started having seizures on the inside. This just means we technically cannot see them on the outside so we had no idea. Jack was put on a medicine to limit these and fortunately the second EEG showed zero seizures during that time period.  Although this medicine is great news this doesn't mean he will never have another seizure again, it will hopefully just limit the amount.  We so wish we could take these away from him completely - our sweet boy doesn't deserve this.

Along with the seizure news Jack started to get reflux a bit. Hearing him try to work that out was so disheartening.  Due to this setback he is not able to take a bottle right now so that is a huge bummer. However, we have adjusted the length of his feeding times and the way he sleeps, and he has not shown any signs of reflux since. Small gains!  We are hopeful that in due time we will be able to try the bottle again, but our main priority is getting him all of the nutrients he needs without hurting him.

We do want to share that Jack's g-tube/button surgery has officially been scheduled for Wednesday 12/7. If all goes well Jack should be able to come home within 10-14 days! The doctors say it is very standard and common.  That said, this mama's heart is already weary and anxious. We humbly ask all of Jack's prayer warriors to pray for Jack to not endure any pain, for me and Kyle to have peace and comfort, and for the doctors to have the knowledge and wisdom to conduct the surgery successfully.

We did have a few moments with Jack yesterday that made us relax and feel like a real little family - bath time! Jack's cord finally came off so we were able to give him a bath and he seemed to enjoy it so much.  Such a sweet time for mom, dad and Jack!

The past few days have been long and hard.  We still have questions and still don't understand the whys of it all.  This holiday season has been a little harder than I thought it would be and I hope that once we have our baby home we can find our new "normal".  We love the Lord and know that somewhere in all of this darkness he knows Jack's ultimate plan.  We may never understand the why, but we pray that at some point we can have a sense of calm and peace.

Love to all of you!

Kyle and Paige

  3. Hi Paige, Kyle, and Jack,
You don't know me. Your gofundme page was shared by my cousin's (George Jackson) mom. You're a beautiful family, and Jack looks like an angel. I just want you to know that you even have prayers being said for you all the way from Seattle. Best wishes for the answers you need, good health, and peace. God bless!
